Which neighbourhoods of Municipio 9 do we cover?

We cover the whole of Municipio 9, the northern quarter of Milan from Porta Garibaldi out to the city boundary. The main areas are:

  • Porta Garibaldi and Porta Nuova, with the station, Piazza Gae Aulenti and the skyscrapers.
  • Isola, the neighbourhood behind Garibaldi station.
  • Maciachini and Dergano, between viale Jenner and via Imbonati.
  • Bovisa and Bovisasca, around the station and the Politecnico campus.
  • Affori, Bruzzano and Comasina, along via Comasina and the yellow M3 line.
  • Niguarda, Ca' Granda and Prato Centenaro, around the hospital and viale Fulvio Testi.
  • Bicocca, with the university and the neighbourhood built on former industrial land.

Which streets and landmarks can you use?

The main roads are viale Zara – viale Fulvio Testi, viale Jenner, viale Marche, viale Stelvio, via Farini, via Imbonati and via Comasina. Very recognisable landmarks:

The yellow M3 line (Maciachini, Dergano, Affori, Comasina) and the lilac M5 line (Garibaldi, Isola, Zara, Marche, Ca' Granda, Bicocca, Bignami) are excellent reference points.

Are you in Porta Nuova, Gae Aulenti or Isola?

In Porta Nuova many areas are pedestrianised and many car parks are underground: tell us which street you came in from and which level you're on. Around Piazza Gae Aulenti, corso Como and the Biblioteca degli Alberi park, surface traffic is restricted and GPS isn't reliable underground.

  • In underground car parks, tell us the name, entrance, level and space.
  • In Isola the streets are narrow, often with parking on both sides: tell us the house number and whether you're double-parked or across a driveway.
  • On viale Zara and the other avenues with a service road, tell us which carriageway you're on.

What should you know about tram tracks and the big avenues heading north?

Several roads in Municipio 9 have tram tracks and reserved lanes: if you stop there, tell us straight away exactly where you are.

  1. Switch on your hazard lights.
  2. If it's safe to do so, move at walking pace off the tracks or out of the reserved lane.
  3. Give us the house number, your direction of travel (towards the centre or north) and the nearest stop.

Along viale Fulvio Testi, which continues north, remember to say whether you're still in Milan or already in Sesto San Giovanni or Cinisello Balsamo: we come out in either case, because we also cover the towns of the province of Milan.

Where is SOS Tyre's base in Bovisa?

SOS Tyre is based at Via Enrico Cosenz 63, 20158 Milano, in the Bovisa area. The service is mobile, though: we come straight to wherever the vehicle is, in Bovisa just as in any other part of the city.

So if you have a flat tyre, don't drive to our base: covering even a short distance on a deflated tyre can ruin it and damage the wheel rim. Stop and call us on +39 377 326 0999. Our other contact details are on the contact page.

How does SOS Tyre work in Municipio 9?

We come out straight away, 24/7, to wherever the vehicle is: on the street, in courtyards, in residential garages and in hospital and university car parks, as long as there's room to work safely. We assess the damage and, where technically possible, repair the tyre on the spot; otherwise we fit the spare wheel or space-saver.

If you have a tyre that's slowly losing air, check it before setting off again. Replacement with a new tyre needs to be checked on the phone depending on size and availability.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring the car to your base on Via Cosenz?

SOS Tyre is a mobile service: we come to wherever the vehicle is, in Bovisa, across Milan and in the province. With a flat tyre it's best not to drive, as you risk ruining the tyre and the wheel rim. Call +39 377 326 0999 before you move.

Do you come out to the underground car parks in Porta Nuova?

Yes, if access is allowed and there's room to work safely. Since GPS isn't reliable underground, tell us the name of the car park, the entrance you came in through, the level and the space number. Also let us know if a ticket is needed to get in.

I got a puncture in the Ospedale Niguarda car park: what do you need from me?

Tell us which hospital car park you're in and which entrance leads to it, the section or space, and the vehicle model. The area is very large, so it's also useful to share your GPS location on WhatsApp at +39 377 326 0999.

I'm double-parked in Isola with a flat tyre: what do I do?

Switch on your hazard lights and, if the car can still move, look at walking pace for a nearby spot where you won't block traffic, without driving any distance. Then call us with the house number. In Isola's narrow streets it helps us to know whether you're near a junction or a driveway.

Do you also cover Comasina and Bruzzano, on the northern edge?

Yes, Comasina, Bruzzano and Affori are part of Municipio 9 and the Comune di Milano, so we cover them like the rest of the city; beyond the boundary we also work in Cormano, Bresso and the other towns to the north. Give us the street and house number, or the nearest M3 stop, such as Affori Centro or Comasina.
