In the south of the city there are country roads and farmsteads (cascine) where an address isn't enough: share your GPS location on WhatsApp or call +39 377 326 0999.

  • Main roads: via Ripamonti, viale Toscana, via dei Missaglia
  • Bocconi, Fondazione Prada, IEO as reference points

Which neighbourhoods of Municipio 5 do we cover?

We cover the whole of Municipio 5, Milan's southern sector between the ring-road avenues and the fields of the Parco Agricolo Sud. The main areas are:

  • Vigentina and the Bocconi area, just outside the Bastioni, towards viale Toscana.
  • Ripamonti and Vigentino, along via Ripamonti heading south.
  • Stadera and Morivione, between via Meda, via Montegani and the Naviglio Pavese.
  • Gratosoglio, at the southern tip along via dei Missaglia.
  • Chiaravalle, Vaiano Valle and Quintosole, hamlets and farmsteads in the south-eastern countryside.

Which streets and places can you use as a reference?

The most recognisable roads are via Ripamonti, viale Toscana, via dei Missaglia, via Meda and the Naviglio Pavese. To tell us the area you can also mention these places:

LandmarkArea
Università BocconiBetween viale Bligny and viale Toscana
Fondazione PradaLargo Isarco, Lodi/Ripamonti area
Istituto Europeo di Oncologia (IEO)Via Ripamonti, heading south
Piazza AbbiategrassoM2 terminus, start of via dei Missaglia
Abbazia di ChiaravalleChiaravalle hamlet, in the Parco Agricolo Sud
Parco della VettabbiaBetween Vigentino and Chiaravalle

The outer ring road (viale Tibaldi, viale Toscana, viale Liguria) is useful as a boundary: tell us whether you're inside or outside the ring of avenues.

How do we find you on country roads and near farmsteads?

In the farming areas of Municipio 5 always share your GPS location, because many roads have no clear house numbers. Between Chiaravalle, Vaiano Valle and Quintosole there are narrow roads, farmsteads and unlit stretches.

  1. Switch on your hazard lights and, if possible, pull over into a widening or at the entrance to a farmstead, away from bends and humps.
  2. Outside built-up areas, put on your high-visibility vest before getting out, especially at night (it's a legal requirement in Italy).
  3. Place the warning triangle behind the vehicle, at least 50 metres away, if the road allows.
  4. Share your location on WhatsApp at +39 377 326 0999 and tell us the name of the nearest farmstead or road.

For safety at night, read the page on our night-time tyre service in Milan.

What should you know about tram tracks and long avenues?

Tram tracks run along via dei Missaglia and other roads in the south: if you stop, tell us whether you're on the tramway or on the carriageway.

  • If you can, move at walking pace off the tracks to a spot where you won't block traffic.
  • On via Ripamonti and the long avenues, always give us the house number and your direction of travel, towards the centre or outwards.
  • If you're near the IEO or another large complex, tell us which entrance or car park.

Are you in a residential garage or a university car park?

In underground garages and large residential complexes, describe the way in to us in words, because GPS isn't reliable underground. Municipio 5 has many recently built complexes with garages on several levels.

  • Address of the entrance ramp, level and garage number.
  • How it opens: remote, pass, entry phone or concierge.
  • Maximum height of the ramp, if shown.

For call-outs in garages or outside your home, see our mobile tyre fitter in Milan.

How does SOS Tyre work in Municipio 5?

We come out straight away, 24/7, to wherever the vehicle is, in the city, in the farmland to the south and beyond the city boundary too. We assess the damage and, if technically possible, repair the tyre on the spot; otherwise we fit the spare wheel or space-saver.

On country roads it's not unusual to cut a tyre on stones or debris: a cut in the sidewall generally can't be repaired. Send us a photo at +39 377 326 0999; replacement with a new tyre needs to be checked on the phone depending on size and availability.

Frequently asked questions

Do you also come out to the farmsteads around Chiaravalle?

Yes, both to farmsteads within the Comune di Milano and to those in neighbouring towns, because we cover the province too. Since many farm roads have no clear house numbers, share your GPS location on WhatsApp at +39 377 326 0999 and tell us the name of the nearest farmstead or road.

I've had a puncture on via dei Missaglia near the tram tracks: what do I do?

Switch on your hazard lights. If the car can still move and it's safe to do so, move at walking pace off the tramway, into a side street or a car park. Then call us with the house number and your direction of travel, towards Piazza Abbiategrasso or towards Gratosoglio.

I'm in the IEO car park on via Ripamonti: can you come?

Yes, we also work in hospital and clinic car parks if access is allowed and there's room to work safely. Tell us which car park, the level and the space, and whether a ticket or pass is needed to get in.

Is it dangerous to stop at night on a country road south of Milan?

It can be, because there's often no lighting and little room at the side. Pull over away from bends and humps, switch on your hazard lights, put on your high-visibility vest before getting out, place the warning triangle and stay off the carriageway while you wait.
