Which neighbourhoods of Municipio 8 do we cover?

We cover the whole of Municipio 8, the north-west quarter of Milan from Parco Sempione out to the city boundary. The main areas are:

  • Sempione and Paolo Sarpi, just outside the centre, around corso Sempione and the Chinatown of via Paolo Sarpi.
  • CityLife, Portello and Fiera, with the Tre Torri towers, the conference centre and the Portello neighbourhood.
  • QT8 and Lampugnano, around Monte Stella.
  • Gallaratese and Trenno, along via Gallarate and towards Parco di Trenno.
  • Certosa, Villapizzone and Musocco, along viale Certosa and around the Cimitero Maggiore.
  • Quarto Oggiaro, Vialba and Roserio, at the far north-western edge.

Which streets and landmarks can you use?

The main roads are corso Sempione, viale Certosa, via Gallarate, viale Scarampo and the outer ring road. Other recognisable landmarks:

Viale Certosa leads north-west towards the motorway access roads: tell us whether you're still on a city street or already on the slip roads.

Are you in the underground car parks of CityLife or Portello?

In CityLife much of the road network and parking is underground: GPS isn't reliable there, so describe to us where you are. The same goes for the underground car parks in Portello and the garages of the new residential complexes.

  • Tell us the name of the car park (residential, shopping centre, offices) and the entrance you came in through.
  • Tell us the level, section or colour of the area and the space number.
  • Let us know whether a ticket, a pass or authorisation from the building or facility is needed to get in.

If you're in a road tunnel, don't get out of the car on the carriageway: if you can, carry on at walking pace to a lay-by or the exit and call +39 377 326 0999.

What should you know on trade fair, conference and event days?

On days with trade fairs and conferences in the city, the Portello – CityLife area is busier: tell us if you're in an event car park or on a street with temporary restrictions. Matches and concerts at the nearby San Siro stadium also affect traffic in the neighbouring areas, such as QT8 and Lampugnano.

  • Tell us the nearest hall or entrance, if you're in an exhibition area.
  • If the area is fenced off, tell us whether you know a nearby spot reachable by car.
  • We set off as soon as you call and tell you on the phone straight away when we'll arrive.

For the stadium area see the San Siro, Baggio, De Angeli page.

Have you stopped at Lampugnano coach station or near the junctions?

In Lampugnano and along the roads heading north-west, tell us precisely whether you're in a car park, on a city street or on a slip road. The area around the M1 Lampugnano stop is an interchange with long-distance coaches and car parks.

  1. In car parks, tell us the level, section and space.
  2. On slip roads or the ring road, stop on the hard shoulder, put on your high-visibility vest, get out on the crash-barrier side and stay behind the barrier.
  3. Tell us your direction and the last junction you passed; if you're in danger, call 112.

How does SOS Tyre work in Municipio 8?

We come out straight away, 24/7, to wherever the vehicle is, including underground car parks and garages, as long as there's room to work safely. We assess the damage and, where technically possible, repair the tyre on the spot; otherwise we fit the spare wheel or space-saver.

We also work on electric and hybrid cars, which are very common in the garages of the new complexes. Replacement with a new tyre needs to be checked on the phone depending on size and availability: call +39 377 326 0999.

Frequently asked questions

Do you come out to the underground garages of the CityLife residences?

Yes, if access is allowed and there's room to work safely. Since in CityLife the roads and car parks are largely underground and GPS isn't reliable, tell us the entrance, level, section and space, and who can authorise or open access.

I've had a puncture during a trade fair at the conference centre: how do I find you?

Tell us which car park you're in, the nearest entrance or hall and, if you're on the street, the house number. On trade fair and conference days some streets may have temporary restrictions and more traffic: we still set off straight away and tell you on the phone when we'll arrive.

Do you also cover Quarto Oggiaro and Vialba?

Yes, Quarto Oggiaro, Vialba and Roserio are part of Municipio 8 and the Comune di Milano, so we cover them like the rest of the city, as well as neighbouring towns such as Novate Milanese and Baranzate. Give us the street and house number, or a landmark such as Ospedale Sacco, or share your GPS location on WhatsApp at +39 377 326 0999.

I've stopped on via Paolo Sarpi: can you come out?

Yes. The via Paolo Sarpi area has pedestrian stretches and streets with frequent loading and unloading: tell us the exact house number and whether you're on a pedestrian stretch or in a side street. We'll work out together the nearest safe spot for the job.

Do you repair electric car tyres in the Portello garages?

Yes, SOS Tyre also works on electric and hybrid cars, on the street and in garages. Electric cars are often heavier and some have no spare wheel: tell us the model and tyre size, so we can work out the solution in advance.
